CLIMB Fund Earns Recertification as a CDFI, Continuing Mission of Economic & Social Justice

CHARLESTON, SC - CLIMB Fund, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and federally certified Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI), proudly announces its recertification as a CDFI, solidifying its commitment to leveraging capital in support of social and economic justice. With a rich history spanning 45 years, CLIMB Fund has made a significant impact on South Carolina's communities, having provided over 900 loans, resulting in the creation of more than 1,500 jobs. Currently, the organization holds 328 active loans with a total value of $19.5 million.

As a mission centered CDFI, CLIMB Fund plays a vital role in creating access to capital, jobs, and opportunities for small businesses where they are most needed. Recognizing the power of financial resources, CLIMB Fund has been instrumental in strengthening communities and changing lives. By providing access to capital, the organization empowers individuals to climb the ladder out of poverty and surpass their goals. Beyond lending, CLIMB Fund is dedicated to addressing inequities in opportunity, focusing on mending the social fabric of BIPOC communities across South Carolina.

Since its inception in 1979, CLIMB Fund (formerly Charleston LDC) has been at the forefront of the CDFI movement in the Palmetto State. In 2008, the organization underwent its first recertification, and for the past 15 years, it has maintained its esteemed status as a certified CDFI. CLIMB Fund's unwavering commitment to its mission has earned it the distinction of being South Carolina's top SBA microlender in both volume and dollar amount, a position held for over a decade.

"Our recertification as a CDFI is a testament to the dedication and hard work of our team, as well as the transformative impact we have had in South Carolina," said Cindi Rourk, CEO at CLIMB Fund. "We are proud to continue our mission of creating access to capital and opportunities, driving economic growth, and fostering social justice. Our work goes beyond numbers; it is about empowering individuals and enabling communities to thrive."

With its renewed certification, CLIMB Fund is poised to continue its meaningful work, making a lasting difference in the lives of countless individuals and communities across South Carolina.
